Reaching Our Goal

As of this morning Team Susan officially has 22 members who will be walking/running in honor of Susan Waldrum's fight against breast cancer!! The goal was to have 15 members and we have surpassed that be 150%!!! GO TEAM SUSAN!!

Money raised to date: 1,180$ = 16 mammograms

Cahaba Village for The Cure

Cahaba Village on 280 is hosting an event on September 23, 2010 from 6-8 which will include raffles and free wine tasting. Many of the stores are giving proceeds of their sales during this event to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. So..... go eat some supper at Newks and then onto Yogurt Mountain before you stop for a massage at Massage Envy.

Pink Ribbon Tributes

This year the Susan G. Komen foundation will have pink and white ribbons at the race in honor and memory of those who have fought breast cancer. If you are interested in purchasing one of these ribbons in honor or memory of someone then click here and then the tab on the left that says Pink Ribbon Tributes.

I will bring everyone's Race For The Cure T-shirts on October 9th so if you just want to come wearing a shirt that you can put the team shirt over then that would be great!

The earliest "event" that you will need to be at is the team photo which we are scheduled to take at 8:15 am at the Team's Tent which will be on the northwest quadrant of Linn Park. It will be very well marked.

8:20-8:45 am Survivor Group Parade/Picture at the Survivor Cafe
8:50-8:55 Pre-Race Jazzercise Warm-Up in front of the start line
9-10:45 5K run/walk- If you are eager to run then they are recommending you get to the front of the line for safety. Walkers hang back.
10-10:30 1 mile fun run/walk
9:30-noon Post-Race Celebration at the main stage in front of Jefferson County Courthouse in Linn Park

I will be there in the early morning probably by 7:30 at the latest so feel free to come whenever. We are really looking forward to seeing you there!!!

Race For the Cure

Hello friends and family! This blog is to help keep you informed as Team Susan prepares for Race for the Cure! October 9th will be a wonderful day of fellowship in the outdoors and a great opportunity to support Susan/Soonie/Mom as she goes through her cancer treatments. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join Team Susan. If you feel like you won't be able to actually run/walk, you can still join the team!

What: 5K/3.1 mile run/walk
Fee: 30$ registration, 15$ for children (14 and younger)

Fun Fact: In 2009 the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation gave UAB a 6.4 Million dollar grant for breast cancer research.
